So, as I mentioned previously, I needed a permanent sharpening station. Given my shop size (about 16′ x 12′), I didn’t really have the room inside the shop so I created one in the garage.

As you can see, it’s a hanging bench which still allows my cars to fit in the garage when I’m not using the sharpening station.

On the right side, I have a small bench clamp which really has the sole purpose of holding a bench dog for my sharpening stones. In the middle, I have a granite test slab (very flat and heavy) which is for honing and flatening the bottom of planes or the sharpeing stones.
On the left side, I have a new Tormek T-7 which is for grinding the bevels on the blades. I tried it out last night and getting that initial bevel takes a while. I used a jig for sharpening knives which worked great. I’m very excited about having this.
Above the station, I have a cabinet which holds stones, honing grits, jigs (that may never get used). It keeps things out of the way that I don’t need immediately.
It’s a simple station but I think that it provides everything I need to keep my blades sharp.
After I have some time under my belt, I will try and post a review of the Tormek.
